Image Sequence Import Bug (?)

Hi all,

I wonder if any of you have come across this issue, really starting to annoy me.

For example:

I have an image sequence 500 frames. AE will only import the first 417.
I have an image sequence 300 frames. AE will only import the first 250.

The files are labeled correctly, the frame rates all correspond in all instances.

I am using version 14.0.0.207 on OSX 10.10.5

If I import an image sequence using quicktime pro7 it can view all of them.

If I import the sequence in AE on my laptop (version 13.7.2.3) it can see all frames.

Is it me or Adobe?

Advice welcomed (apart from installing OS X Sierra!)

Ok done, thanks for the link Roei.

apparently there is a problem with Jpegimporter module which is a new thing in CC 2017.

the workaround is this:

1. upon import set the file type to "all files" like this:

2. now change the format to Jpeg and import as normal

this solves a problem with that interpret footage frame rate will return to the preferences default upon saving. see if it solves your problem

Hi there, thanks for replying. So here's a few screenshots:

Loading the shots in:

Checking the source image sequence - 9 files seems okay...(ignore the tracker points - that is for another comp)

Dragged to create new comp - 9 frames still okay...

Reinterpreting to 9fps

Now, checking the timeline in the comp, I saw that only 3 frames remain! Why?

Okay, got a work around. Re-installed 13.8.8.38

I can import image sequences no problem.

It's not me, it's you Adobe. Please fix. Thank you.

Anyone know how I can report this?

Frame rates are the same in the comp and the image sequence import.

When the sequence is placed into the comp the timeline shows the full sequence but when viewed the last 16% is not visible.
The sequence is not distributed over the timeframe, it's just the last frames missing.

It appears there must be something somewhere that's conflicting. Interestingly, the frame rate of 25fps is approx 84% of 30fps.
It's almost as if AE imports at 25fps but assumes 30fps.

Please see attachments for import process:

You'll notice import prefs are set to 25fps

Image sequence and order selected
Comp is at 25fps duration at 500
Frame 416 has content 417 does not yet the sequence goes to 500.

Anything I'm missing?

Make sure you have no gaps in numbering. You can also check the box for Force Alphabetical order to overcome gaps.

Been working with image sequences on OS X 10.11.4 and CC 2017 all morning with no problems. I suspect frame rate interpretation first - make sure the comp frame rate and the frame rate of the image sequence match. A quick way to check is to view or import the last frame as a still and compare it with the last frame in the sequence.

I did run into some frame rate issues earlier in a Mocha Pro project but it turned out to be a user error on my part.

A detailed description of the workflow and image sequence and comp details would help us help you track down the problem.
