James Bond Intro - HELP NEEDED - Transition between two still images

Hey, I'm new to After Effects but have experience in Illustrator and PhotoShop. I'm trying to recreate the James Bond barrel intro where he walks out, turns and fires his gun. I have to 2 Illustrator files of James Bond: 1 with a side view of him walking and the other is a front view with him firing the gun. Can anyone recommend the best way to transition between these two images so that it looks like he moves smoothly?

Any help is appreciated.

If the artwork is vector based, you could copy & paste the paths at different times into a mask or shape layer path to create a "morph". Just keep it brief and tight or else it will look goofy. Otherwise it might be best to just use a creative transition between the two states like applying CC ball Action, Glue Gun or Mr. Mercury to dissolve one image into "blobs" and then reassemble them by reversing the keyframes. Again, brevity is the key here to disguise the cheat.

Thanks for the reply and yes the artwork is vector based. I'll use your tips and give it a go!
