Layer Size

What is meant by layer size ? Is there any relation between layer size and frame size ?

Footage = flattens the artwork in one image with the dimensions of the file.

Composition - Retain Layer Sizes = Creates a new Comp an places every layer in it. Each layer's size will be the exact border of the artwork(pixels/vector) of that layer. (Best for animation)

Composition =  Creates a new Comp an places every layer in it. Each layer's size will be the same size/dimensions of the source file. (Best for complex graphics that need to align perfectly, like maps)

    Yes, there is a relationship.

     

    The best way to see it is import your layered file as Footage, then again as Composition - Retain Layer Size, and then again as Composition and then inspect the results.

     

    For the as Compositoin options, the Frame Size of the resulting Composition should match the Image Size (or Document Size) of the layered file; however, the Layer Frame Sizes may not (see Nishu's reply for more).

    When you choose Retain layer size all the layers will have the bounding box of the size of the content on that layer. Choosing Composition will produce the bounding of the size of the artboard/canvas in Illustrator or Photoshop.

      There are many frame sizes for example (1920x1080, 1280x720 ect). Like this I wish to know the meaning of Layer Sizes.
