Lyric Music Videos

Hey everyone!

I have a question that may come across weirdly but I am really into creating lyric music videos and I have a really good idea in mind but I don't know how to create it. I feel like I'm good at animating text and all but I can't seem to realize this idea and whenever I try to search up different effects/animations some are extremely long to make and some just aren't what I'm looking for. Any tips on how I can improve and actually create what I have in mind? 🙂

Thanks,

Daniel

If you've got text animating down, I'd recommend experimenting with backgrounds. You can decide whether to use still or video backgrounds. You can decide if you want the background to change throughout the song, and maybe be creative with it and add some random little effects or shapes. You can get those backgrounds from free stock clip websited like Pexels or Pixabay. People also like to add splines to lyric videos to spice up the BG.

I also like using Magic Bullet Looks and RSMB to make it more smooth and interesting.

There's also the concept of "professional" lyric videos, that are just different from a regular 7clouds type video.

Hey, I checked out all of the stuff you talked about above, thanks a lot for that! Defo going to help 😊 I was thinking of like this smoke text reveal and foggy neon text. I guess what I have in mind is quite similar to the NCS song you've sent but instead, I want the BG to associate with the text reveal if that makes sense.

Glad it helped! Yeah, I think of it as two different styles. Like the 7clouds style (with more interesting text animations) vs the official lyric videos that labels or artists put out themselves on their YouTube channels.

Those lyric videos (professional style) often require stock clips or paid assets. You can definitely find some free ones but in my opinion, a lot of the decent stuff sits in paid stuff. Adobe Stock can help you with that.

With the text reveals, I'm not 100% sure what people would do, but I would think that would have a lot to do with masks/rotoscoping or track mattes (I'm not very good at the advanced stuff filmmakers use, so I wouldn't know :P)

Mainly just find an effect that sort of sets the tone/theme of the video. In some of the NCS stuff, they like using blending modes like Difference for the text (or so it looks). There are tons of random effects that AE has. Look through the Effects & Presets menu and find effects you like. If you want more, you can always buy paid plugins like Sapphire or VideoCopilot plugins.

But yeah, I know it might not really help you in the immediate, but look around for inspiration and just practice with songs. You'll eventually find stuff you like and effects that work well for your style!
