MacBook Pro M1 Max - After Effects - To partition or not?

Just received a new MacBook Pro M1 Max. To partition the HD or not. Is it still necessary to partition the HD for disk caching in After Effects? Anyone using an external Thunderbolt drive for disk caching? Curious as to the performance.

Not sure that you will get a better performance as the internal hard drive is an SSD. I use an external hard drive (OWC Thunderbay 4) and is a perfect way for caching. I get similar results on both SSD and the OWC (slightly better on the SSD)

Thanks for your feedback.  I appreciate it.  I've been looking at OWC's Express 4M2 as well as the Envoy Pro as an external SSD.
