Mask Has Dashed/Dotted Line In Addition To The Normal Path - Curved Mask Not Working

I'm editing a video for a client, I made a curved mask so that my text would appear behind some furniture but it's not working the way I thought it would. There is a straight dashed line prohibiting my curved mask from cutting a curve into my text the way that I want. You can see in the second image how the white text goes beyond the mask I drew, but stops against the straight dashed line. I would love someone to educate me on this as I can't seem to find the answer anywhere online! I need this mask to be curved!

I see you've placed the mask on the text layer, which might be the issue here, seeing as the text is 3D.

How about instead, on a duplicate of your video, draw a mask around the table.  Place this above the text layer, and use an Alpha Inverted Track Matte on the text to cut out the table.  

This way the 2D mask will not conflict with the 3D.  Just make sure you're in Classic 3D (you curently are) otherwise track mattes are not visible.

 If I need to do some roto work in a comp that has been camera tracked I will almost always use track mattes. Sometimes the source of the matte is a 2D layer, other times it is another 3D layer placed in front of the layer that needs to be masked. It all depends on the shot. I will almost never resort to masking on the actual layer that needs transparency. As the others have said, creating the mask on the Text layer is a pretty bad idea.

 

This is a very quick demo of setting up a track matte I prepared to answer another post a long time ago. Maybe it will give you some ideas:

    It looks a bit like you have 3D layers that are intersecting. Cropped screenshots are pretty useless when it comes to diagnosing problems. Select the problem layers. Press the 'u' key twice to reveal all modified properties, then post a screenshot of the entire UI. I would be surprised if you don't have 3D layers that are intersecting.
