Simple Question,  I've been trying to add a little more information to my After Effects projects, via metadata so its visible just by seing the project info (before it open) in the explorer window, but no matter what info I put in the metada data portion of my project, it doesn't show out side of after effects. I try reaching out to microsoft, but they told my it most be and issue with after effects, or maybe I am doinf something wrong...

I'm curently running After Effects 2021, on windows 10 proffesional

please see attached, If anyone can give me any pointers I would really appreciated it

Windows merely reads EXIF/ XMP data from standardized fields in image files just like it reads internal Windows dat based on COM/ OLE/ WMP. None of this has anything to do with AE and there is no way to enforce any of that unless the Adobe devs were to change these things. Otherwise what you want won't work. Therefore it would probably be more useful if you started using Bridge to browse your projects. At least there you can add custom metadata that is stored in the Bridge database. Outside that for the time being all you will ever get at the Windows level is the generic "Comment" field, whose data is stored in the Registry and Windows Explorer caches.

Where are you trying to read the metadata? You can only see the Metadata for the current AEP file in After Effects. You can read the Metadata in Bridge or Premiere Pro, but Bridge does not show everything. Premiere Pro does show the Label.

I need a little more information about your workflow to help you out. I'm not seeing any metadata problems on my system.

Apologies, maybe metadata is not the right way to go about what I am trying to achieve, let me start from the begining. On Windows 10 when one right clicks on a file, let say a picture perhaps,  ther is a "property" option on the submenu  that apears, that every file regarldless of the type of file, has. that "property" option allows you to added desciptive data to the file, for example comments or label etc..  for some reason, Adobe After Effects files don't have that option, and I thought that I needed to add those parameter within after effects via metadata. All I really need is a way to annex a comment section to the file that I can see before I open the file.

thanks again !!!   apologies for my english
