What mouse are you using for Ae? I use regular mouse. Is there any special mouse for After Effect / Video Editing? I think mouse imbeded arrow keys & spcebar is more convenient, so that you can reduce depends on the keyboard.

I use Razor Viper mini, the best light weight, no input lag mouse. You get more control in precise movements

I use the MX Master 3, and my own shortcut, you can also try the Loupedeck Creative Tool

Depending on the task, I use an Apple Mouse, a trackpad, Astropad (it turns an iPad into a Wacom), or a Wacom tablet. If I'm doing Roto or Paint, there is nothing faster than Astropad because I can zoom in and see exactly what I'm doing on the pixel level. Most keyframing of values is done with a trackpad. I don't use a mouse very often, but if it is handy, I'll use it for moving arou nd in a composition and editing paths and positions.

A more efficient workflow might be to mouse with one hand and use keyboard shortcuts with the other hand.

Which input device you use is a personal choice, but also certain ones are better for a particular task.

For After Effects, I really prefer the Kensington Trackball products, but painting mattes is often better done with a Pen Tablet.  More importantly, I switch between input devices throughout the day to minimize repetative strain injury.  So, I'll use a Trackball for a few hours, then switch to a trackpad, then switch to a mouse, then switch to a pen tablet.

One thing I really like about the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S mouse is that it's easy to swtich between right and left handed input and works with more than one device.

When I did a lot more video editing, I made use on a Contour editing wheel alongside my mouse - it was great.  And the same job involved a lot of C4D so I had a 3D space mouse - which was awesome too.  So I know what you mean about AE and a specialised mouse.  I had been wondering about a Stream deck, as that can be configured to control AE:

I use a regular mouse. If you would like to edit video more efficiently, one thing I would recommend is to edit the shortcut keys in After Effects as you like.

I don't think there's a special video editing mouse in the wild. Some sites on-line seem to recommend the Logitech MX Master 3. BUT, it's a mouse for right-handed people only and no left-handed version exists.
