Question

Moving Layers/Pre-Comp/Comp when time remap!

Hi guys! For some time now, I've been thinking that I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing, that I forget a lot of things that I modify in my after, except that today I've got proof that I'm not crazy, when I change the duration of certain layers and I change the precomp excpecially when I use time remap, it comes back as it was before I saved it, have you had that lately too?

I think I got it, it might be Skew my plug-in that you see in video!
Skew might have a time-remap issue!

That's right. Skew can modify the layer duration. You can test that by disabling the plug-in. Go to Effect > Manage Effects > uncheck the plug-in.

Let us know if that works. Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions.

Thanks,
Nishu

This is what I got, i'm working on a NAS server by the way, when I save my project it seems like I rollback for a solid 5-10sec before even saving!
I'm on Macbook Pro M2 Max 32Go, OS Sonoma v14.6.1, Ae v25.0.1(Build 2)!
Thanks have a great day!

Changing the duration of a layer in a nested comp (pre-comp) will not change the outpoint set of the nested layer in the main comp. It never has.

If you move all attributes and trim the new comp to the layer length, the outpoint of the nested comp will be the length of the longest layer in the pre-comp. Retiming the layer inside the pre-comp will change the timing, but it will not change the length of the nested layer in the main comp.

I can't tell what's going on in your sample video because it looks like you are changing the length of a video layer in two different compositions.

Hi Valentin31149134phle, thanks for writing in.

Could you share the steps to replicate the issue on my end? Also, what are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version) and version of After Effects you're using?

We're here to help, just need more info.

Thanks,
Nishu
