my text is very pixilated even at 100%.

The composition panel is Magnified to 3600% line you are displaying is only 2 pixels thick. Set the Magnification Ration to 100%, and you'll see s very tiny not quite white line that is 6 pixels wide and 2 pixels high. That's not big enough to mean anything other than some kind of flaw in any media player. 

Spend some time in the Learn workspace or with the User Guide to gain an understanding of the UI and the basic workflows.
