Need help in the kinetic typo

Hello! There are two clips one is mine trying to achieve the results shown in the youtube video. Please help me out how to take the path to the origin point like in the youtube tutorial. I am unable to do so as you can see in the video whenever I try to compress the paths it does not move inward but moves sidewards.

First make sure all of the anchor points on the shapes are selected.

Before the tutorial tries to scale the anchor piont he/she double clicks on one of the selected points.

This double-clicking creates a free transform box around the selected points. 

The free transform box changes the way scaling works so that you can scale exactly to the oposite corner.

It looks like you missed that double-clicking part.

OMG! I really appreciate your reply. I've just tried it and it worked. I noticed that double clicking in the video but did not understand that it was for transform(Beginner at AE). Really grateful to you.
