Photoshop Import - Type Tracking Looser Than AE Type Tracking

Why is it that the Photoshop file I just imported has looser tracking than the native-to-After Effects line of type I just made with the same point size / tracking value as the PSD file?

You can set the tracking in the Character Panel of either app. I have not noticed any significant difference between After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Premiere Pro. Same font, same tracking value = same look. Points don't match pixels but everything else is the same.

I rarely create type in Photoshop first and import into After Effects, so I've never noticed this, but yes - I agree - you would expect them to be the same.
