Photoshop Layer Comp to After Effects

A client gave me a 4K PSD to animate, however, the designs are all assembled as Layer Comps. I've never used PS Layer Comps, but PS won't export a single Layer Comp as an individual PSD without an error message due to the 2GB date limit.

Is there a workflow for exporting PS Layer Comp layers to After Effects? Or to an Artboard?
