Hi There,
I've been getting this error code while opening certain .aep files from another person:
After Effects error: rendering plug-in instance verification failed. (26::400)
Is this because the creator used a plug-in that I don't have installed?
Thank you ahead of time for your help.

No, it's apparently an issue with one of AE's own core plug-ins creating a memory leak or security violation and OS X blocking something. Since the people who have reported this so far haven't followed up on this and not provided any further details I can't really tell you what specifically is going on. Try to open the projects with capslock enabled and then sift through the comps. perhaps in one of them you get some more useful warning about a missing effect or in the advanced composition settings panel you see the comp renderer disappear and may set it manually. Really just wild guessing, though. This is majorly elusive and weird.

Hi Mylenium,
Thank you for your response. I have noticed warnings when the caplocks are enabled. Hopefully Adobe will rectify the issue if that is the case.
