Hey just installed everything ready for AE 2022 Mac version. I have some effects and presets ready a ton of them, and I want a custom folder so I can navigate from what’s basic and my “own” stuff, I tried making a folder called “Text pack” with the custom text fonts etc but it doesn’t show up in the after effects program, I've followed every step on youtube and i should've done it right, it appears as it should be in AE-Presets. (view pictures)

You are placing your custom animation presets in the wrong folder. If you create or save an animation preset in the default location, you will find it in Documents/Adobe/After Effects 2024/User Presets.

I have added a folder that is actually an alias to a Dropbox folder so I can get to my 400 or so animation presets and the organized folders for my presets.

This is what they look like in After Effects.

You don't have to create an Alias to a cloud-based folder; you can put the assets in the Documents/Adobe/Adobe After Effects 2024/User Presets folder, then refresh the list in After Effects, and they should show up.

There's a couple of problem-solving options I can think of, but I'm on Windows so these might not work:

  • Why is your folder name in quotes?  If you remove the quotes do they appear?  I know for script folders using (name) means they don't load.
  • Is this defintely the correct presets folder?  If you temporarily remove one of the other plugins, does it still appear when you reload After Effects?  If it doesn't, then you might have a secondary set of folders.  I've got ones from 2015-2023.  Most of the time this doesn't cause an issue, but it has occassionally.
  • This is the main presets folder by the looks of it, not the user presets folder.  Try saving a preset in After Effects and see where it appears.
