Problem with the effect: 4-color gradient

Hi,

When I create my 4-color gradient as a background I want it to change from black to gray. From top of the composition to the bottom.

But as I do so, there appears gray/distorted areas/lines that moves across the background.

Even after rendering and exporting this problem remains. This looks really bad and low quality.

I've attached a print screen of the video. Its now were visible, but its there.

Does anyone know what I can do about this?

If you're working in 8-bit and/or exporting to 8-bit then pure gradients will always show banding.

The "trick" is to apply noise to the footage, so the banding is quantized smoothly.
