puppet tool: arm behind the body

hi!

I have a character in AE he must do a simple arm movement toward the chest. everything working ok but the arm goes behind the body and some other weird stuff as you can see in the print screen.

in this image I'm using "pin to parent" script to creates a null to all pins, but the error occurs even not using the script.

 

any thoughts about it?

You need to use de Puppet Overlap Pin Tool, located in the same menu as the rest of the Puppet tools. Once you select this tool and set the overlap points, you need to set a couple of parameters:

 

- Extent: lets you extend the area that will overlap over the body (in front or behind)

- In Front: positive value will overlap in front of the body while negative values will move tha arm behind the body.

    the pin that must be the puppet overlap is completely arbitrary or there's a way to preview wich one will have this problem?

     

    very happy that this procedure was possible with my already rigged and animated character!

    It depends on the movement of your other pins. As soon as some area of the alpha channel overlaps you need to use the Overlap tool to set the areas that will interact.
