Question

QuickTime functions will be disabled because a compatible version of QuickTime could not be found.

I have been on hold over the phone for a couple hours and I finally have to leave my house to get on with my life. My last ditch effort to get any assistance is to ask the community and hope that someone out there responds. When I open after effects, it says, "QuickTime functions will be disabled because a compatible version of QuickTime could not be found." I am hoping to get After Effects to recognize .mov files again, and export projects to QuickTime format again. I have After Effects version 7.0. I paid for it years back. It does the trick. No, I am not interested in subscribing to the newer version at this time. I know this can do the job, because I used it not to long ago. It's just stopped working here recently. There used to be a page where I could re-install the dummy installation, using the listed serial number, but Adobe has since removed the page. Here is the link: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html#. I saved the linkl, because I anticipated issues such as this to appear out of nowhere. In the past uninstalling and re-installing did the trick. But now the page is gone. So I got on the phone and wasted two hours of my life. Also, are there any other good video editing programs out there, with better support? Just curious, as I may want to upgrade later. I just want to stay away from adobe if there isn't any way to get help after purchasing a product.

AE 7 requires Quicktime up to version 6.4 or older. It doesn't work with QT 7. other than that everything is on your own hat - you are using an unsupported legacy product that has tons of compatibility issues with modern operating systems, modern file formats and whatnot. It would be almost miraculous to get it working reliably on a new computer.

I've responded to your other post but I'll add here that you are setting yourself for failure. Fair enough that you don't want to upgrade if CS2 is doing the job. But you are contacting the company for support on a product that they've discontinued support for. This is Adobe's policy for support on legacy software: Adobe Support Policies: Supported Product Versions.

Your post doesn't contain enough info to help you. Apple discontinued support for Quicktime on Windows which may efffect you. We don't know your OS. Or much else.

I've never had a problem with Adobe support. In fact, I've found them quite helpful in many instances but I've always called about products that they support. I find it a bit ridiculous to say that "there isn't any way to get help after purchasing a product." when there was -- for many years. When a company EOL's a product they are saying "We have improved our product significantly and our recommendation to support calls is that you will be better served by our new offerings." You have every right to not upgrade but Adobe's lack of support for 12-year-old software, you'll find, is common in software. Microsoft is EOLing Windows 8 tomorrow after less than 6 years (and only one point release and one full release). OS 10.11 made it less than 3 years before EOL. Adobe did their part.

You might not be the best person to comment on this....I paid out my butt for every update through cs6 master collection and had massive crash issues that they NEVER solved, and the entire community had the same issues......for years!!! Then conveniently right about the time Quicktime was killed they stopped supporting cs6 bundle.....Now I can't even use my cs6 for a freakin funeral video to edit much less a short film....CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO USE MY $1000 worth of software without QUICKTIME.Oh and today I'm trolling around on the forums and what do I see.....problem after problem with crashes of every possible kind and all kinds of people complaining about support.

....If I am little rude I apologize but for anyone to take Adobe's side on this new path (5 past years) of CRAP service is ridiculous.
