Render farm After Effects setup

Hi folks,

I am trying to setup an AE render farm atm and to be blunt, I find the Adobe documentation around this pretty lack lustre. I am across the use of image sequences only and the specs stuff etc. This is more in regards to the actually setup.

I am aware of the process around setting up the Multi-machine render settings in the render queue, however, I am not certain whether each instance of AE on the farm then requires it's own license to run while processing that job. The information around that seems to differ from one document to the next. So can anyone please clarify if every AE instance will indeed need it's own license to function in that scenario.

I am also aware you can create the watch folder etc. and run a "render" only version of AE which doesn't require licensing. However this apparently runs locally only and won't work over a network ?

Any clarification anyone can bring around this would be great as the documented processes in Adobe Help ... are ambiguous at best.
