Question

Save Frame As > Photoshop Layers... with live text?

Hello, I need to export several .psd from various stages of a composition that contains both image crops and live text layers. While the images are fine the resulting .psd has all text rasterized, it there amy to prevent this conversion from happening and retain the live text layer. Similarly is there any way to export specific stages of a composition to retain live layers other than the 'Save frame As' function?

Any help greatly appreciated

No and no. This has always been a limited one-way road because the font engines between PS and AE are not perfectly compatible. AE simply does not generate the underlying data for the text layers, even more so if specific formatting or text animators are part of the mix. Similalrly, "Save Frame As..." is as good as it gets. The whole layered saving is essentially a hack bypassing the normal render process and only works in the UI. there used to be a script, though, that allowed to batch process this. Maybe you can still find it on AEScripts.com.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I will investigate the possibility of scripting. I feel it is probably unlikely considering the complexity of the compositions but I will see what I can find.
