shatter effect text not visible

Question

I used shatter effect on the text, and the test disappeared, although I chose Rendered view. When I create new clean composition, and use the shatter effect on a text layer, text is visible. Whan can be wrong? In this composition there aro no layers that may cover the view of the text layer, I checked.

By default, Shatter starts with Force 1 set to fill most of the layer surface. This means effect begins at the start of the timeline, not the in point of the layer. This is a common misconception.

Try moving Force 1 behind the layer by increasing the depth value or reducing the radius to zero. You should then be able to animate the parameters of Force 1 and make the text layer shatter as expected.
