Question

Sketch animation thru Frame interpolation

I have a couple of examples but...

I am wondering if I could draw 4 frames and have AE interpolate the tweens.  I do not really know how accurate it would be due to the strokes from the pencil.
I have animated Ai designs using DUiK and the puppet tool but I don't feel that this is the same.

Theory:
Sketch 4 frames > Create 4 black and white 1018 frames > Import to AE and interpolate.

I could vector it also but I am not sure other than creating clean non-multi-stroke lines. That would make it a little simpler I think but would take away the penciled look.

Any link to a process like this would be helpful also.

I think AE is not the best tool for this type of animation. You can import frames as a image sequence and use some of the native time remapping tools to create some kind of "interpolation". If you can use vector strokes then you could use the path animation techniques for shape layers to create a real interpolation. Maybe someone could throw some light about these as I'm not an expert in frame by frame animation.

what would be a better application for this?
