Slow performance with memory leak error 83 :: 2 [After Effects 15.1.2]

win 10   AE 15.1.2

i7-5820k cpu 3.30ghz

64gb

500 gb ssd

1070 ti gtx   +  1060 gtx

I always get this message when i close after effects "string memory leak 83 :: 2"

basically when i start to work everything is fine but after few minutes after effects slows down a lot, it takes 20 seconds just to start previewing a composition, everything is super laggy and unresponsive, its just unworkable.

i goggled it for hours but cant find clear answers. most of the people seems to be saying that this is a problem related to dynamic link, but i am not using dynamic links.

i think the problem are master properties because if i don´t use them this problem seems not to show up, is this possible? is there a fix?

    Hi matteociaociao,

    Thanks for reaching out. I understand you are getting performance related glitches with After Effects and every time you close the application it gives you an error (83::2). Thanks for sharing the information about the system details. I have a few questions that will help us troubleshoot the issue:

    • Have you considered updating After Effects to the most recent version?
    • Do you get this issue with every project?

    Here are some suggestions to try:

    1. Purge memory. Edit > Purge > All memory and Disk Cache > OK
    2. Check out this article: Improve performance in After Effects
    3. Reset Preferences to make the settings default: Setting preferences in After Effects

    Let me know if it brings any change.

    hi shivangi,

    so i cannot update after effects right now, i work in a studio and half of the pcs still have win 7, and we have to be all on the same ae version. May be we will update next year, hard to tell.

    i dont get this error with every project, i get it every time i use essential graphics / master properties

    i have tried to purge everything and change settings multiple times, i always get the same error.

    the only thing relevant that i noticed is that if i activate "hardware accelerate composition layer and footage" i get slightly worst performance (wich is ironic).

    Thanks for sharing the information. If the issue is happening with one of the projects while using Essential graphics, I'd like to get more details:


    with this project i get 100% of the time the error message even if i open the project for 10 sec.
