Question

Snap to composition

I feel like I used to be able to snap to the composition edges/corners/center. Now it's not working. Is there something I have to enable to make this work?

To be clear I'm talking about snapping in the same way as snapping to another layer. As in hold control/cmd and a box popps up which snaps to nearby object boundaries/center. I'm not talking about the align tool, that can work under certain circumstances, but it doesn't work with 3D layers.

    1. Add Guides to the composition,
    2. Enable Snap to Guides in View drop-down menu,
    3. Problem solved.

That's 10 minutes about snapping to other layers, which wasn't my question. Maybe it was never possible to snap to the comp. It should be. Off to the bug/feature forum.

Create a Solid that's the same size as your comp. Then snap to this layer - you'll get the same result as snapping to comp edges.

Make sure the “Snapping” checkbox is checked on the toolbar and I think you’ll need a layer to snap to, you can’t just snap to the comp, so just make a solid that’s the size of the comp so you have some edges to snap to, and then you can turn it off.
