Browser & Device type: Acer Nitro AN515-58, Core i7, Nvidia RTX 3050, 32GB RAM, Windows 11, After effects 24.5

Issue: In After Effects version 24.5, when attempting to perform rotoscoping, use the brush tool, or do tracking, the image in the Source window goes black, and I cannot see the image to use the tool properly. In rotoscoping, I can still use the tool on the black image and see the result only when switching back to the selection tool. This issue does not occur in version 2023.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Double-click on the layer I want to rotoscope.
  2. In the new window, select the Roto Brush tool.
  3. The image goes black.

Expected result: The video image remains visible, and I can use the Roto Brush tool while viewing the video.

Actual result: The image goes black, and I use the brush on a black image. The tool works, but I cannot see where I am applying it.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
