Splitting a clip?

New Here ,
Dec 10, 2017 Dec 10, 2017

Hello, I am very much a beginner to After Effects, so sorry if this problem seems silly!

I just split a clip, and how when I move the mouse over the part of the clip I just split, it doesn't move. Instead, the pointer (the mouse button curser) turns into an icon with two arrows and doesn't move the clip?

to move a clip you click on the filled layer bar it with intent and drag. if you click on the edge you will drag the handles.
