Splitting a clip?

Hello, I am very much a beginner to After Effects, so sorry if this problem seems silly!

I just split a clip, and how when I move the mouse over the part of the clip I just split, it doesn't move. Instead, the pointer (the mouse button curser) turns into an icon with two arrows and doesn't move the clip?

to move a clip you click on the filled layer bar it with intent and drag. if you click on the edge you will drag the handles.

try clicking the clip then using the command (ctrl+shift+d on windows/cmd+shift+d on mac) 🙂

let me know if this works, otherwise reply with any further questions you may have!! :')- bailey
