Sudden playback lag issues after changing workspace

Hi all, I reverted my AE workspace to default and now I'm getting really laggy playback even with a one shape layer comp.

For reference I am using the latest version of AE on a Macbook pro 2020 M1.

I have cleared cache, I have the max amount of ram dedicated to AE, my preview is set to a quarter and I'm using adaptive resolution.

I think I've solved it! In the Previews panel under frame rate I changed the "Skip" from 5 to 0 as that was causing the lag.
