SWF Support for AE.

Im wondering why After Effects doesn't support .swf files, those .swf is Adobe property and it would be great to have those vectors animations inside AE.

Also, does anyone knows a way to scale a .swf into a .mov of bigger size? Im working in a project that requires 4k dimensions, but the .swf files provided by the customer are not bigger than 640 wide, importing the .swf into AE would have solve this problem.

As a side note, I have no idea why this forums is full of trolls that claim AE DOES support .swf.

Use Adobe Animate to work with SWF files. It's not really pointless for AE to support SWF but there is an opportunity cost involved when developing features into AE.

IOW, there are higher priorities at play and more so when another app exists, with better native features that support SWF.

I know it's been a while and that your main question was answered, but I just wanted to add that the people you are talking about may not be trolls. AE used to support SWFs just a few versions back and they probably don't realise that it's changed. I didn't realise that it had changed until I suddenly opened an old file to find that I was getting errors.

EDIT: I suddenly realised that you may be able to install a legacy version of AE through CC and use that to work with your SWFs. I'm not sure which was the last version to support them but if you can find out that may be a solution to your problem.

AE CS6, which is available for download via the CC app, is able to export to SWF. I'm not certain if it's the last version of AE that outputs to SWF.

Hey, not sure if you realise, but After effects CC 2019 does support swf import from Animate CC 2019. It's a bit flaky - you have to turn off Advanced Layers in Animate, and I've seen discrepancies with nested symbols, but in general it's pretty cool to have a vector video format in there!
