Texture Memory settings After Effects

Hi all...   my GPU:  GTX 1050 Ti  4GB vram    My computer has 32GB win10 x64

After Effects / Preferences / Previews /  click: GPU Information

Texture Memory reads:  1607 MB   

1) Should I raise that up? and if so, how much?  Couldn't find a formula.

So what is this Texture Memory for anyways?

It's utterly irrelevant. AE doesn't use these features in the same way games would. just leave it at the defaults.

I'm curious why AE would even put that option in, if it's only for vid games?

So if I have the default setting of 1607MB... is that allocating vram away from my GPU's work force?
