Time Remapping + LoopOut + Motion Blur = glitch

New Here ,
Jul 18, 2025 Jul 18, 2025

Hi, I have a problem.

I have a comp with some looped movement (any kind). When I use it in another comp and apply time remapping with loopOut, everything breaks.

First, the last frame disappears! (Seriously, when are you going to fix that? Where does it go?)

Fine, I add an extra keyframe one frame before the last frame to make it loop properly (why can’t this just work automatically?)

But if I turn on motion blur - everything breaks again. The motion blur glitches on the loop seam, and I have no idea how to fix it.

You may want to try tweaking the motion blur settings under Composition/Composition Settings.

You can try using CC force motion Blur.

Let us know if that helps. Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.

Thanks,

The last keyframe when you enable Time Remapping is located at the end of the repeated frame, not the beginning. If you add a loopOut() expression, you will have an extra frame in the loop. To fix the problem, reveal the keyframes, press K, then Ctrl/Cmnd + Back Arrow, set a new keyframe, then delete the original last keyframe.

To create a looping shape layer with motion blur that also loops, open the Composition Settings/Advanced tab (Ctrl/Cmd + K) and ensure that the shutter phase is set to 0 °. Set a rotation keyframe, then move down the timeline and add 360º (one rotation) to the rotation value. Next, enable Motion blur and check the motion blur on the first and last keyframes. The blur amount should be identical.

You can then add a simple loopOut expression to the Rotation property.

Unfortunately, there is a bug in the current builds that completely fouls up motion blur when looping. The only option is to use Pixel Motion Blur or CC Force Motion Blur. I prefer Pixel Motion Blur.
