Toggle an effect visibility

I have applied a few effects to a layer that has an image on it.  Is there a way to toggle the visibility of an EFFECT?  There's an eye-visibility-toggle on the layer, but I don't want to toggle visibility of the whole layer.  I want to toggle visibility of specific effects, so I can see playback with various combinations of effects. Photoshop has what I'm talking about.  I included screenshots of both AE and PS.

If you look in your effects control panel you will see an FX button by the name of your effect. Clicking this button will toggle the effect on or off.

Rob's solution works for an On/Off Switch. There is also another option which allows you to input an Expression and also adjust the effect's application based on a percentage value of 0-100%. All effects have a Compositing Option parameter in the Timeline. Within the Compositing Option parameter, you will find a Slider Control which allows you to input an Expression as well as to dial in the percentage amount of the effect. HTH

This was so helpful thank you! I am using alot of the roughen edges effect in this project and to help things run faster I wanted to have a checkbox that I could toggle the effect on and off across the whole project. I didn't know about this opacity option which has made it possible, so thanks!
