Question

Twist effect

I am trying to achieve a twist/squeeze effect, similar to twisting/squeezing a towel dry, on a 2D image in After Effects. I have tried the twist and squeeze effects through warp, but it doesn't give the effect I'm looking for. It almost seems like I may have to use an effect on multiple anchor points. I tried a null object, but can't get that anchor point to animate at all.

Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks in advance!

I would look at BOA which you can purchase at aescripts.com

    Hi Ranay

Maybe you can make it with Puppet Tool, learn how to use it reading this link.

It will be good if you are able to provide a good animated visual reference to what you are trying to achieve. As you now know, there are various options but no definitive solution. Hence, it will be good to solidify your ideas by either providing a reference for a guide or still images that sufficiently convey the effect you are aiming for.

You can do this in Cinema 4D Lite that comes with After Effects with a twist deformer.

You will need some kind of pattern in the artwork to see the twisting. I would start with Mesh Warp or even liquify.
