UI Language in After Effects 2018

Hello everybody!

I'm a Mac user and the recent update to cc 2018 has brought me some pain because of the language.

I want to use AE in english, but I don't see a way to change it. Even if I change my OS language or the preferences of Creative Cloud App.

I only found ways to force the change of previous versions.

Does anyone know a way to change the language for AE 2018?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

You have 2 options:

1.- Enter into your Creative Cloud App, change the language and reinstall After Effects

2.- Creat an empty txt file with the name ae_force_english.txt and copy in your User's Documents directory. You can create the TXT using Textedit, but be sure to save the file as a TXT file and not the default RTF format (you can change this in Textedit preferences)

Its 2018 and there is still no in app option to just change the language in ANY of the adobe main products...

Come on Adobe, its not that hard. Do we really have to be hackers to do this? Downloading lots of gigabytes just to easily change the language cant be in anybodys interest.

"but why you want to change the language?"....cause sometimes it makes sense to have a certain app in another language, like indesign makes sense for some people to have it in their local language.

ah whatever. like if anything is ever going to happen with age old issues

I did this to change after effects from German (DE) to english in default mode

1. Go to: program > Adobe after effects cc 2018 >> paketinhalt anzeigen / show package content

2. Go to: Contents > dictionary > de_DE (the language it is currently running) > after_effects_de_DE.dat  >>this is the file you need to change

3. change label of the file  >> after_effects_de_DE.dat  >> after_effects_de_DE.datX

4. Programm startet in default sprache // after effects starts in default language which is usually english

it worked for me.

Tried the changes listed above multiple times no result.

I was surprised that the reinstalling of After Effects from Adobe Creative Cloud changed absolutely nothing.

LATE EDIT:

I found the problem. So the actual steps are:

1. Open Adobe Creative Cloud.

2. Uninstall existing version.

3. Change language in preferences to the desired one.

4. Install Adobe After Effects.

When I tried installing on top of the previous version, without uninstalling first it wouldn't work.

Hope this helps other people.
