Unable to change stroke color

Hi. Fairly new to After effects, but I can't seem to change the color of a stroke.

I've created a fairly simple handwriting effect which reveals the text, but it appears to be stuck on white. When I change the color of the stoke in effects to blue, nothing changes. I've tried applying key frames to change the color but that doesn't work either.

I assume some other setting is conflicting this with but as I'm fairly new I'm unsure what this is.

Thanks

Search 'fill' in effects and presets and change the colour that way!

You seem to misunderstand ho this works. The strokes are simply gobbled up because the text is based on masks. In order to actually revela the text you'd have to draw a dedicated mask acting as the "spine" of the stroke. You can't just leave it at "All Masks" and hope AE would somehow magically figure out the stroke directions. You need to put in much more work. In fact most people would prefer if the stroke is on a separate solid on top of whatever they reveal and use it as an Alpha/ Luma matte instead of operating directly on the layer(s). This is stuff any basc handwriting tutorial can tell you, eeven the worst ones, so I would urge you to actually watch one. A simple web search for "handwritten text" or "logo reveal" with "After Effecxts" in there turns up literally hundreds of tutorials.
