Many of my renders have been failing on the first try and succeeding on the 2nd try: 2 consistent errors continuously pop up on fail:

  1. After Effects error: Unknown checkout id ( 78 :: 7 )
  2. After Effects error: An unexpected error occurred while exporting a composition. Error Code: 516. Please restart After Effects and retry the export.

 

Mac OS Sonoma. Version 23.6.0 Build 62

FYI, AE 23.6 is not supported on MacOS Sonoma. 

 

What we have seen is that Sonoma is unexpectedly locking down permissions to folders, especially AE's preferences folder, which appears to be causing a lot of problems for users trying to run on Sonoma. I would suggest you make sure your account has the appropriate permissions especially if this wasn't happening before you upgraded the OS.
