video clip is doubling/mirroring after applying effect?

whenever i apply the "shake sauce" effect to any video clip, the clip randomly mirrors as shown in the attached image. i have already

-uninstalled and reinstalled

-quit after effects and premiere pro

- i have the latest version of everything

etc

ive used shake sauce before and it worked but this isnt the first time this mirror look has happened and im very lost. also im using premiere pro and replacing with after effects comp. does anyone know what else i can attempt?
