Question

Waveform too short in after effects

I've imported a .wav audio track into after effescts but the waveform is far shorter than the recorded time it's been compressed from 3 minutes to 1 minute and I don't know why and would like the audio to be the original time?

I tried time stretching but this distorts the audio, is there another way to import it correctly?

Hi laurag16888634,

Welcome to the Community and sorry for your issue.

Is it happening to all the audio files that you try to import? If it's happening with all the files, try resetting the preference of After Effects: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-after-effects/td-p/10634342

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hi thanks for the response, I've tried resetting the prefrences and importing the audio which is 3 minutes long into after effects on it's own and it's still comprssed to one and a half minutes.

I have not workled with any comps that are that length so I don't know why it's doing that and I can of course time stretch it but in my opinion that distrots the audio.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated I'm at a loss here?

Are you creating the composition first and then importing the audio?  Try dragging the audio from the project panel onto the Creat New Composition icon and see if you still have the same issue.
