Im looking for a way to collapse all 40 something layers Ive got open with a quick and simple keyboard shortcut and I can't find it anywhere. Ive googled and searched this forum without any success, all the shortcuts are outdated for the new AE versions
With no layers selected press the u key once to collapse all or if you get keyframes showing press u again. To reveal all settings on all layers that have been modified press the u key quickly twice.

Select the timeline, Cmd/Ctl-a, hit the triangle twirly on just one layer. Maybe the u key will work, or the u-u trick. It's not a keyboard shortcut, but it's faster than one-by-one.

The official collapse/expand shortcut is Ctrl+ ~ (accent grave/ Tilda)

Cannot find Collapse nor Expand in the keyboard-shortcuts. When searching for Tilde or Accent Grave amongst used keys, nothing is found. Reading the linked adobe-help doesn't give any hint either on how to get a shortcut to collapse/close all layers.
The U/UU-thing works, but demands all layers to be selected - which easily can be done with cmd+A, but is there any shortcut to deselect them afterwards? Yes, there was. cmd+shift+A. Phew.
Who knew that such a small but important thing to collapse all layers would be almost impossible if you don't have a US-keyboard.

Unfortunatly this does not work for layers with properties driven by expressions.

Im using AF 2020, now you can collapse all layers by unselecting all layers and press 'U' Key

Back in the days when I started fiddling around with the need to collapse all open layers, I didn't know what U did. It shows only keyframes on selected (or all) layers. This is a very powerful shortcut to minimize the clutter of non-important information.
The method of hitting U to open Keyframes, and then U again to close it all of course also works with all the other expant-property-shortcuts like A, S, P, R, T and so on.
