I have the same problem, it's sporadic at best.

HOPEFULLY, Adobe knows this already as it's appeared in this verison (15.1.1) Build 12

I'm sure they're moving quickly to patch the issue.

Dream on.  Those codecs are G-O-N-E, gone!

The only way they'll come back is if enough people crab at Adobe to bring them back.

    Thanks for the reply Warren...

I'm not having any problems with CODECS, when they load in After Effects. Maybe I'm in the wrong thread.

I've had an odd response to a project where a few of 300 shots from either a GH4(h.264), DJI OSMO(DJI-AVC) or BMD Video Assist(ProRes) report in AE as missing footage. Keep in mind these are literally the same footage from the same shoot of the same content. When I record to our Video Assist(ProRes) I get the same "missing" files.

There are a few strange things about this:

    1. I built the commerical yesterday, ALL of the videos loaded fine. Today is a different story. I had to replace 6 of the 12 shots because they showed up missing.

    2. I can play those same videos, that show up missing, in Finder, Premiere and Davinci Resolve, they just stopped loading in AE for some reason.

I've cleared the cache and media in After Effects and Premiere and turned off and unplugged my Trashcan to clear system memory.

Oddly enough, after I restarted my machine the first time I right clicked and "Reloaded Footage" to get an audio track only.

Any information for AE 15.1.1 Build 12 would be great!

    Thanks,

    Ted

In troubleshooting this, it wouldn't hurt to downgrade to an older version as Dave suggests.  You can have 15.0.1 installed at the same time 15.1.1 is installed.  Of course, you do want to be able to move forward with After Effects as the whole advantage of the Creative Cloud subscription is that you can always be up-to-date.  Not to mention that they day is coming that macOS X won't have QuickTime running under the hood to support QuickTime files.  QuickTime as a system driver for time based media is soon to go from just being deprecated to being discontinued entirely, leaving us with only being able to play the CODECs supported by AV Foundation Frameworks at the OS level.

When you open your clips in QuickTime Player X, do they open and play immediately or do you see a "Converting..." message?  If they open and play immediately, that's an indication that they should play as expected in the most recent update to the Adobe video and audio applications.

It's sounding like something may be going on with your storage media.  I'd take the time to run Disk Utility on your media drives.  If you happen to have TechTool Pro and/or DiskWarrior, I'd take the time to run those as well.

Adobe dropped its support of many older, but still widely-used Quicktime codecs in the latest update.  If you need these codecs, you need to revert to the Create Cloud update that was released BEFORE April.
