Why does my after effects green cache bar not load fully?

My green cache bar is not loading fully and it is causing the video to lag when I play it back. Whenever I render it and it saves it is completely fine and plays through smoothly but in after effects it doesn't. I don't know what the problem is.

It looks like you have the Frame Rate or Skip functions set in your Preview settings. Open the Preview pane and reset the settings. Set Frame rate to Auto and Skip to 0.
