I'm currently installing an osx on my pc, because of some plugins for after effects.

And i was thinking why is fxfactory mac only? Is there that big of a difference between a mac plugin and windows plugin?

martin.

Hi Martin,

While Adobe provides the same exact SDK for both Mac and Windows, our software will remain Mac only for the foreseeable future. Our software relies on a number of graphics technologies that are proprietary to Apple platforms, so a port to Windows is not straightforward.

On a more personal level, we also think the Mac is a far more interesting platform to work with/in. If you ever get a chance to run AE or Premiere Pro on the Mac, we would be grateful to count you as a new user 🙂

That was never a smart decision, to be honest. In my opinion you've always severely misjudged how little Macs are used in some types of productions and geographic regions. Would have loved to use some of your tools way back when, but alas, 't wasn't meant to be...
