Window 10 hover preview uses strange method to reder After Effects preview?

What rendering method does windows 10 use when previewing what's in After Effects preview window. I was creating a halftone pattern in After Effects. I hovered over the preview and saw something very different.

The preview showed butterfly shapes instead of the halftone pattern? Why would this happen?

Read up on the composition panel's render settings and do some experimenting. Sounds like you are new to AE and have not done much homework.
