I agree with you. Hopefully soon, but in the meantime, it might be worth creating an Essential Graphics for your emojis which might speed up the process a little.

It would be great to have native-like emoji handling for text replaced using a script, or pasted in, so emoji characters are automatically changed to an emoji supporting font, whilst leaving the rest of the characters in the original typeface.
It's almost 2021 and AE and Premiere still don't support Emoj's? Why? I thought I was spending all this money on subscriptions to get cutting edge apps, not software that doesn't support emojis! They we being used in windows 8 which rolled out over five years ago. Windows is more cutting edge than Adobe?
Just wanted to add another vote to this idea. I have a client making social media highlights with Mogrt templates I've supplied, and there's really no good way to incorporate emojis without havign to do it manually.
