smooth zooming via mouse

Instead of jumping in intervals when zooming, I'd very much prefer a smooth means of zooming to go along with the smooth panning we have. Its one of the experience pleasantries I have with other apps and wish it were in AE as well.

Its nice for when dealing with details. Roto, checking key edges, etc.

I think this all depends on the size of your window, have you tried the 'Fit'-option?

This is just silly. For designers (adobe's target market) we need to be able to preview the design on the screen at the actual size it will print.View>actual size does not work for this as every monitor has a different resolution. For example, my 220mm composition is 250mm when I choose zoom>actual size.

Zoom - can you please add the same zoom functionality that you have in Illustrator? Where you can click, drag and zoom in/out? That would be ideal. Better functionality across programs.

It only takes one hour for only one of Adobe programmers to implement such a useful feature!

I find it odd that we still cannot enter a custom zoom percentage for viewing our composition. Especially in an era where you can use your tablet as a second screen, it would be ideal to zoom in a specific amount for masking and animation. Clearly, it is possible, because selecting "fit" will give a very specific percentage. Yet, for some reason, it remains impossible to ask for a specific percentage yourself. Would very much love to see this feature.

@TaranVH: It could still be pixelperfect at the current "integer" zoom-levels. The zooming could also work with 5% steps or something. So both parties would be satisfied? – And say hi to Linus, you built a great media channel 🙂

I second this - these days, in apps like after effects, we are booked for vertical videos (tik tik, Snapschat, IG etc)

Every time I open AE and find out all my stuff has migrated to the latest update i scroll to zoom in between 50 and 100 to see if you have added one extra option you should have added decades ago.... Please!!! add either a custom %zoom or atleast 75%

So, this doesn't make any sense at all and doesnt even address the problem. Scaling in full pixels is perfectly fine, the problem arises with the obnoxiously huge scaling steps, that make precise viewing decisions an impossibility. Programs like Nuke, Blender and other have no problem with that, so why After Effects? Its such a basic feature and defending this nonsensical decision to not implement it with pseudo-arguments just contributes to the toxic treatment that Adobe users get, regarding software updates.
