after effects / media encoder encoding process help needed
hi guys, im an experienced after effects user who seems to have lost his way / got into bad habits regarding encoding over the years...
i had a job recently that was finished in after effects, the deliverables were 4 videos, each being 2 minutes long, and they needed a 1080p and a 720p versions.
it was a stressful project, and i didnt put much thought into managing the encoding and versioning aspect of the job, my client never specified formats or bitrates so i just exported out h264 40mbps and 20mbps .mov
i was using a macbook pro as i was freelacing from my clients premises, this was a 2011 macbook pro, 12gb ram, 2.3ghz quad core i7.
my process was to render each video out of after effects, then i used quicktime pro to export the videos as h264, i use quicktime pro as i tried media encoder in the past and it felt slow.. looking back though, quicktime pro took forever to encode so i think it would have been faster.
i am considering getting the latest macbook pro.. will this render a lot faster than my current machine?
the latest mbp has a geekbench multi-core score of just over 15000, where as my current machine is 9500
i would appreciate some tips for faster ways to render and export different resolutions, plus any info regarding wether its worth getting the new macbook pro and if it would be considerably faster would be much appreciated.
thanks guys
