After Effects Preference Error

After updating to OS 11.1, After Effects has been giving me this error when I save.

After Effects warning: Error with file: '/Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/17.5/Adobe After Effects 17.5 Prefs.txt'.

I've deleted the file in question, which After Effects then re-creates when I open the program next, but then still gives me the same error message when I save.

It has read and write priveleges to that folder, and as far as I can tell, it's not actually causing any issues with After Effects. I can still save, render and work within the program. Just more annoying.

Haven't tried re-installing After Effects yet, but will try that when I get a moment.

Has anyone else got this error message recently?

Would you try to reset the preferences itself? You press Option while launching After Effects. You can release the Option key when the splash screen appears.

To reset preferences and plug-in cache at the same time, hold down Command-Shift-Option while the application is starting. Release the keys when the splash screen appears.

I think removing and reinstalling AE will help you fix that issue, also it's a good idea to use CC cleaner to remove AE https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

To follow up on this, I reinstalled AE and it still had the same issue. But resetting the preferences and plug-in cache has fixed the issue.

Thanks everyone!

I am still having issues with this. I uninstalled, reinstalled, reset preferences to no avail.

Mac OS Monterey 12.5.1, Macbook Pro M1 16" 2021 tried to use latest installs of Premiere and After Effects and even downgraded to prior versions.  I've opened up access privileges to the entire disk and double checked folders too. (I am admin) This is really frustrating
