Question

.ai in Comp, sudden brightness jump & opacity between two keyframes not changing correctly

Hey guys,

I am having two issues with a Comp.

1. I have an imported .ai file. At a certain point, the brightness of the vector shapes in there jump and the files contents get brighter. At this framenumber, there is no keyframe set on any layer, nor is any layer starting or ending. I am kinda clueless, what could be causing this. Does maybe anybody else has experienced this already and knows any cause/fix?

2. On a shape layer, I am changing the opacity of one group between two keyframes (from 100% to 0%). At the second keyframe, the group is still slightly visible and vanishes on the third keyframe. I think I've tried already everything in terms of keyframe interpolation etc., but I can't fix it. Did I miss something, because when everything is set to linear, the group should be hidden on the next frame?

Here is a suggestion if anyone is having this same problem. I was, and it was because I didn't have the layer drawn out far enough to cover the end keyframe. So when it got to that point, the opacity just jumped instead of fading. Took me a while to figure out this is why I was having a jump in opacity when I thought I had a snooth fading effect.

Hi eCronik,

Have you tried purging the cache?

Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache…

When comps start acting "weird" this is one of the first things I try.

Hi Michael,

good idea - I forgot about this. This actually fixed my second problem with the opacity. Unfortunately the first issue with the brightness-jump remains.

Hey, I've tried resetting the preferences, but it doesn't seem to work (PC, CC 2019). When I hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt there is a Windows-popup asking me if I allow the application to make changes on my system, but not one from AE asking me about resetting. I was also trying all combinations (holding before clicking the AE icon to open it up, holding afterwards, releasing in between, holding around the Windows-popup etc.). Not sure if the Windows-popup is the resetting? I think "play sound when finishing a render" is a default feature that is applied - it's not activated.

Also here is a videoclip showing the problem and my timeline - can't show the last shape layer, but I am keyframing position of the groups there as well as Fill-color and opacity (way before that framenumber though).

really it look like a camera and 3d layers issue, as i notice from your video you have a keyframes on camera zoom so try to remove this keyframes and check if this will fix the issue, if it work that's mean your layer are on the same Z position and you need to fix this by moving your layer little bit to keep some space between them,
