Can't convert image in editable text in AE

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to modify an image (a text logo) in text on After Effects so I can animate it as text but it doesn't work. I've done it as it should be done though, by uploading a psd file as a composition. When trying to convert is in text layer, I get an error message 52 § 0 saying that the text data isn't compatible. Any idea what is happening and how to fix it?

Thank you!

What worked to me; save as your Photoshop file in different name , bring those PSD into after effects and try again!:)

Click on the layer that you want to edit, Go to Layer tab > Create > Convert on Editable Text > highlight text and change the text.

What the others said. Likely your text isn't editable to begin with because retaining its appearance depends on specific layer styles, masking and grouping in PS which AE can't recreate dynamically.

If the PSD text layer isn't editable, the option should be greyed out in the Layer>Create Menu. Perhaps the required font is missing?

That option should be grayed out, but it's not. You can still click it on a layer that's not actually text, and that's likely the issue here. You need to be able to edit the text in Photoshop for this option to work.

That makes sense. I tried with a text created myself on Photoshop and that works, so that's the reason why. Thanks a lot!
