Can't see text after adding a particle effect

Hi there,

I am brand new to AE. I want to add some cool text to a vid. so I added the video and then i clicked text to add the text on the vid. after adding the text I wanted to add the particle system 2 effect to the text layer so i did but as soon as i did that my text disappear, i cant see it anymore. any help would be appreciated. i have added a screen shot. thnx in advnace.

Add the effect to a solid layer instead of on the text layer.

Most effects that generate something, like particle effects, completely take over the layer. You will need 3rd party particle effects to make them interact realistically with other layers.
